Kansas City’s best bartenders will put their skills to the test for celebrity judges Doug Frost, Dave Wondrich, Katie Van Luchene, and Jenny Vergara. The bartenders competing for the Grand Prize of $1000 and national publicity, will be required to create their own original cocktail as well as showcase a knowledge level and skill level with regards to classic cocktails. Think “Iron Chef” but for the bar.

RENT PARTY 2009!

October 14, 2009

Come and Join Martini:20 at Rent Party 2009!
Saturday, October 17, 2009, 6-9 p.m. at the Midland Theatre!

What is a Rent Party?

Rent Parties began in Harlem in the 1920s when multiple families shared the same dwelling in order to afford the exorbitant housing prices.  As a quick solution, many people would throw a party on a Saturday night, charging admission fees to their friends, in order to raise money needed for rent!  We are bringing back the Rent Party to benefit families of Community LINC. Our fundraiser promises to be a hip, swinging event at the Midland Theater. Guests will be treated to live entertainment from the Barclay Martin Ensemble, and the event will also feature live and silent auctions hosted by Tanna Guthrie. Check out our LIVE AUCTION Items List here! Plan to attend our special evening filled with wonderful food, an open bar, dancing, and live music, in the absolutely gorgeous surroundings of the Midland. It’s not only a fun night on the town, but also a chance to help others.

Reserve your tickets now–it’s easy! Follow the Blacktie link below:

www.BlacktieKansasCity.com/rsvp/

For questions regarding the event, contact Cecile Denny, Director of Volunteering and Special Events, at 816-561-5862 or cdenny@communitylinc.org.

Tickets are $75 per person.

Raise rent to help our families!

Interested in becoming a Rent Party Sponsor?  Enjoy the added benefit of receiving NAP Tax Credits.  Tax credits will go fast–don’t miss your opportunity!  Maybe you have a great item or service and would like to donate an auction item?  Your involvement as a sponsor or auction item donor provides homeless families with safe, stable homes at Community LINC. While they are residents, our families learn to become independent through Community LINC programs that teach life skills, job skills and accountability. Your Rent Party 2009 contribution helps us continue these successful results:

* Providing 36,000 bed nights for homeless families each year
* On average 76% of the families leave for permanent housing
* 86% of those who leave will continue to live independently for at least the two year follow-up period
* In the last six years, 46 families who came to us homeless left as homeowners.

Need more information?  Contact Cecile Denny at 816-561-5862 or cdenny@communitylinc.org

All proceeds from the Rent Party go toward providing safe and stable environments for homeless families in the Kansas City area.
